Behind the camera is an amazing floating road that connects the two shores. One end was hinged to the shore and the other had a motor. The whole bridge was floating on pontoons. When ships would go in or out of the harbor, the bridge captain would sail one end of the bridge across the channel, folding the floating roadway along the opposite shore.
